Public Transit

You don’t create traffic havoc for decades to improve traffic. The Valley Line LRT is a debacle to award public contracts to engineering firms charging taxpayers zillions of dollars annually to maintain and zillions upon zillions more to build. It’s the reason that the deficit is so high and property taxes keep rising. The combination of the deficit with the other transit costs places public transit at the top of all taxes levied on property owners, and the amount of money spent on LRT is ridiculous.

Rather, an inherently smart and safe public transit system will replace the spider web of LRT in the works now. Transit buses will all converge at a central location opposite City Hall in Edmonton near the public library. This will rejuvenate the downtown with foot traffic and make it possible to easily reach any part of Edmonton by first going downtown where businesses will flourish without the need for hundreds of millions of dollars in spending planned now. Spending on public transit slashed and transit buses off the roads after 10 PM to cut down on crime and costs.
